Jet Careers day 2016 -Tower Project
Tennis2Be was invited by Tower Project to attend the annual careers day at the Tower Project – JET offices. The careers day is aimed at supporting young people with learning difficulties and or disabilities within the London Borough of Tower Project Hamlets to make their own informed decision of which type of job they would like to do now or in the future. This day is a job informative day where people don’t expect any of the companies have vacancies (although we did!). We just needed to explain to the young people which skills, qualities, training and or qualifications were needed to work in our sector.
In preparation for this we drafted two job descriptions:
data entry clerk for disabled people and
Both jobs were specifically tailored to cater specifically for disabled groups in line with our ethos of inclusivity e.g. where we felt a requirement would be too difficult to meet initially, this was replaced with something more doable and achievable. It’s important to note that the job specification was not made easy or compromised in any way, it was merely adjusted and made more suitable.
Tennis2Be’s objectives in attending this event were as follows:
promote our activities to the participants
optimize Tennis2Be notoriety
increase our data base and develop contacts
evaluate our offers and jobs related with disabled people
listen and take into account, questions that disabled people asked about the jobs
...all of which we achieved in this well run and organised event!
